What is Multi-Peril Crop Insurance?
Indemnity in the event of perils affecting crops belonging to the farms during the insurance period. The multi-Peril Crop Insurance cover is meant for all commercial field crops including wheat, maize, barley, rice, tea, coffee, sugar cane, tobacco, all horticultural and floriculture crops and tree crops. Who is this product for? The product is suitable for individuals, corporates and co-operatives.
Among many other benefits, the cover allows a Rwandan farmer to commendably manage the many risks and uncertainties involved in agriculture. The cover provided includes reimbursement for loss resulting from:
- Drought,
- Excess rainfall,
- Windstorm, flooding,
- Hail,
- Fire
- Frost damage

Step 1: Request for quotation
Step 2: Fill proposal form
Step 3: Premium payment
Step 4: Provide ID for individuals, RCA certificate for cooperative & RDB certificate for corporate
Step 5: Sign contract
- Any losses not reported to the insurer
- Pest and diseases that can be managed using recommended husbandry practices
- Loss or damage to harvested crop after leaving the farm
- Consequential loss due to delay, detention, or confiscation of harvested produce
- Down-grading and deterioration in production quality of any kind
- Theft of crop while in the field, mysterious disappearances, or unaccountable losses
